Our Confidence
Call to Worship
Come let us worship the Lord who is our God, our rock, the one in whom we take refuge, our shield, the horn of our salvation, our stronghold and our refugee, our savior. Let us call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised! (adapted from 2 Samuel 22:2,-4)
Prayer of Calm
Taken from Every Moment Holy by Douglas McKelvey
Leader: O God our Rock,
People: hold us in this chaos.
Leader: O Christ our King,
People: calm us in this storm.
Leader: O Holy Spirit,
People: intercede for us.
Be merciful, most merciful God!
Leader: O God, our Rock,
People: hold us in the chaos of this hard hour.
Leader: O Christ our King,
People: calm us in the storm of our distress.
Leader: O Holy Spirit,
People: intervene, and intercede.
We need you now, most merciful God.

Heidelberg Catechism Question 1
What is your only comfort in life and death?
That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who, with His precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, and therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto Him.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
